Five Years

One of my favorite things about photography is the incredible community it builds. So when I see a familiar face and hear, “You photographed me a few years ago!” the joy of what I do comes rushing back.

In 2020, I worked with IBEW 569 on a series of portraits to promote careers as a union electrician. One of those portraits sessions featured Allana.

Allana was scheduled for one of the last sessions of the day. She had come directly from a jobsite. Her kindness and easy spirit shone through, even after a full day of work. As I photographed her through multiple setups, including a trip up to the rooftop solar panels, nothing could suppress that smile.

So it made my day when that same smile arrived at her graduation from the Electrical Training Institute last week. Her five year journey to becoming a journeyman electrician had culminated.

Congratulations, Allana! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face, too.
